trans ski mountaineering pyrenees traverse 2020

CANCELLED ASC Ski Mountaineering Lecture - Spring 2020

Trans Pyrenees Ski Touring Epic

by David Hamilton

Owing to the current restrictions on public meetings, the ASC Spring Lecture 2020 is cancelled.
In an era of unprecedented climate change is there enough snow cover in the Pyrenees for a full winter ski mountaineering traverse?

David together with Steve Kentish set out from Banyuls on the Mediterranean coast in mid January. They aim to be the first UK skiers to complete a full coast to coast traverse in a single winter.
By March 4th they had completed 70% of the route (37 stages in 45 days) and were waiting in Cauterets for a bad weather system to pass before continuing.

They hope to complete the trip and return to the UK by the end of March.
In the meanwhile, follow them on their journey
Come along to the Alpine Club on 13th May and share in the experiences of these intrepid ski tourers. Take the opportunity to meet with like-minded individuals and compare notes of your ski touring activities this season.
