Camp on Kedar Dome. Phatang Pithwara. The Alpine Ski Club is an active and friendly club of ski mountaineers. It was the first ski-mountainering club in Britain (founded by Arnold Lunn in 1908) and remains the first choice for independent ski mountaineers. The objectives of the club are to promote mountaineering on ski and to encourage good fellowship amongst ski-mountaineers; to encourage mountaineering expeditions on ski throughout the world and to promote a better knowledge of the mountains in winter. Membership of the club is open to experienced independent ski-mountaineers who fulfil the minimum entry qualification. The club provides a venue for active ski-mountaineers to meet, exchange information and to plan new expeditions with lecture meetings every year in Autumn and Spring, usually at the Alpine Club, 55 Charlotte Road, London EC2A 3QA. The Annual Dinner is usually held in London during November. We organise an Alpine Meet and expeditions to little known mountain ranges. Enterprising guideless ski expeditions in recent years have included ski mountaineering expeditions to Muztag Ata, Zanskar, Kashmir, Gagotri, Iran and Turkey . Recent Alpine Meets have been in Pontresina, Andermatt, Briançon and the Dolomites. Exploration and training grants are available (see the Grants page). Avalanche rescue transceivers can be hired with members receiving preferential rates and priority booking. Hire is free for club Alpine meets and expeditions.
