Simplon Meet

General idea:  

Members form their own parties each day according to speed and ambition. There is usually a slower group aiming for more modest ascents, as well as one or more groups aiming higher.

The area:

The Simplon Pass is at 2000m, so it has a very good snow record. You can select from tours facing most points of the compass, and there is plenty to keep everyone happy for the whole week.

Venue: 

Simplon Hospice (1997m). This is run by same Augustinian friars as the St. Bernard hospice, and offers comfortable accommodation in rooms for 2-6 persons. with good showers, washing and other facilities. Food is simple but adequate. Cost is currently given as SF50 per night for half-pension. Access is by road to the door, either own car or post bus from Brig. The road is kept open through the winter.

Both are needed, the hospice being on the top edge of the latter map.
